A central bulbous dome stands atop the roof of the Taj that is
surrounded by four chhatris . As a two-storied structure, each having
arched recesses with a highly decorated Iwan in the middle. The tombs of
Mumtaz Mahal and Shahjahan are actually located in the basement, while
their replicas are placed directly above in the upper hall.
Constructed in white marble, Taj Mahal pure white walls are decorated
with exquisite pietra dura or stone inlay work. It is said that
different types of precious and semi-precious stones were used in the
intricate inlay work done on Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal appears beautiful at all the time, but it is best to watch Taj
Mahal is during dawn. In the afternoon, the Taj is a dazzling spectacle
in white, and in the evening the Taj dons the orange glow of the setting
sun. Of course, there's
Northing more romantic than beholding the Taj on
a full-moon night.
As far as seasons are concerned then, summers, from April to June and
monsoon from July to August are the seasons better not to be touched.
Winters, mid September to March, are considered the best season to
explore Taj and its surrounding. The weather remains pleasant during
this period. Remember to carry some warm clothes while coming to North
Indian plains during the winter season.
