Places of Interest
Govindghat - The ghat is situated on the conflux of
Alaknanda and Laxman Ganga river. Govindghat have an impressive
gurudwara which was named after Guru Gobind Singh. Located amidst
Joshimath and Badrinath it is the starting point for the trek to this
valley. From Gobindghat, it is 16 kms. away. Ponies can also be hired
from Gobindghat.
Valley
of flowers - Valley of flowers is one of the most prominent tourist
places of Uttaranchal. Valley of flowers is situated on the scenic
valley and is near the Pushpawati river. The appropriate time to visit
the valley of flower is from July to August,
The Temple Complex - There are 15 idols
in the temple complex. Finely sculpted in black stone, the Badrinath
(Vishnu) image is a metre high. Other images include those of Laxmi
(Vishnu's consort), Garurh (Vishnu's mount), Shiva, Parvati, Ganesh
Neelkanth - A pyramidal shaped snowy
peak (6,59 7mt) towering above Badrinath, presents a dramatic sight. It
is better known as the 'Garhwal Queen'.
Connectivity
Air - Nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun.
Rail - Nearest railheads are at Rishikesh and
Kotdwara.
Road - Badrinath is connected by good motorable roads
with Rishikesh, Dehradun, Kotdwara and other hill stations of Garhwal
and Kumaon region.
Accommodation
You have Modi Bhavan, Gujarat Bhavan, Kale Kambli Wale's Ashram behind
the temple, provide a serene and comfortable stay to the tourists. Many
religious organizations maintain Dharamshalas, which are very cheap and
clean. Here non vegetarian food is not available. Simple vegetarian food
is available.
