![]() General Overview Amarnath is one of the most revered destination of India and has number of mythological stories associated with it. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Amarnath is situated 50 kms from Pahalgam. The abode is quite famous for housing the famous cave temple which is unlike any other temple in Amarnath.The temple opens only once in a year. It takes nearly 15 days to reach Amarnath from Pahalgam, the base point. The Amarnath Yatra (Pilgrimage) is considered one of the holiest by the Hindu Pilgrims world over. This shrine of the Hindu faith is believed to occur naturally every year in the month of Shravan (July-August) is most revered by the Hindu devotees.
