Leh is also best for those who are looking for an exhilarating river rafting tours. Places of interest The Tsemo Gompa - Also known as the Red Gompa is located at the north of the city. The left side of the entrance has the portrait of Tashi Namgyal. The Gompas has a colossal 2 storey high image of Maitreya which is flanked by Avalokitesvara and Manjusri figures. Soma Gompa - This is a new monastery which is situated at old village. The monastery was constructed in 1957 which commemorates the 2500 th birthday of Buddha.
