Ladakh is a sensitive border area between India, Pakistan and China with the
barest traces of the ancient splendor described by early silk traders.
Ladakh is a rich repository of Tibetan culture as you're apt to find in this
day and age. Yet this old land of gompas, apricot groves and ancient rites
still weaves a spell around visitors. With undulating natural beauty Ladakh
attracts the more intense and adventurous travelers. The overwhelming
wilderness and magic can only belong to this great land of towering
mountains and Buddhist simplicity.Geography Ladakh is one of the highest altitude district of India. Ladakh comprises of number of distinct areas which include populous main Indus valley, the more remote Zanskar ( in the south) and the Nubra valleys. Climate Ladakh climate is extremely cold in winter and the sun's effect is harsher due to the rarified air. You could therefore suffer from conditions as diverse as frostbite and sunburn at the same time, if you're not well protected. Temperatures in Ladakh, range from -3 to 30 degrees Celsius in the summer and from -20 to 15 degrees Celsius in the winter. Fact File
