Location
Located in the western part of Jammu and Kashmir state. The hill resort is located at an altitude of 2130 m above sea level. The hill resort is positioned beside the Liddar river in the Liddar valley. Pahalgam is 95 kms east of Sringar.

General Overview
Situated at a height of 2240 m, Pahalgam is located at the union of streams flowing from Sheshnag lake and the Lidder river. Pahalgam is now forms one of the premier hill resort. Pahalgam is characterised by gushing, silvery streams of ice-water and by densely wooded mountains. As the road winds along, Pahalgam appears round the corner against a background of mountains and glistering glaciers with streams rushing past. Pahalgam is the starting point for several trekking trails, such as to the Kolohoi Glacier, Amarnath, Zanskar and Kargil. Climate
Due to its geographical location, Pahalgam form a cool resort for may travellers who want to be away from the dust and din of the city.

Summers (April-June) are mild while winters (November-February) are cold. It experiences rains between July and September. It experiences heavy snowfall from December to February


Places of Interests
Overa Wildlife SanctuaryMamaleshwara - Just a kilometer away from Pahalgam, Mamaleshwara is located on the opposite side of the Liider river. This is a small Shiva temple with its square and stone tank.

Tulian Lake - This lake is 11 kms beyond Baisaran. The lake is covered with ice most of the time and is surrounded by peaks which are above 300 meters above shoreline. Tulin lake is easily accessed by a pony trek.

Overa Wildlife Sanctuary - Situated 76 kms from Sringar, Overa wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of about 32. 27 sq kms. The area houses number of rare, endangered and protected species of birds and mammals.

Fishing - Those who are interested in fishing, then Pahalgam gives you an exciting opportunity to try out the fascinating fishing experience. The only difficulty you might get is in getting the fishing licence .

Air - Srinagar is the nearest airport which is 95 km from Pahalgam. This Airport is connected with all the major cities of India.

Rail - The nearest Rail head is at Jammu and from there National Highway NH1A connects the Kashmir valley with India.

Road - It is well connected by road with Srinagar. The travel time between the two is 2½ hours. Travelers can either use bus or taxi from Pahalgam to reach Srinagar. Tourists can hire guided ponies and horses to explore Pahalgam and the areas around it.
