Lakes
- The City is full of lakes that make it more interesting for the
visitors to have some extra fun. The prominent being the Naini Lake,
which draws large number of crowds and have been uplifted for tourist
purposes. The Bhim Tal is the other lake in the close proximity of the
City. Seven lakes get clubbed in Saat Tal while nine corners of the
Nakuchiatal is another attraction of the City. Other Lakes of interest
include the Khurpa Tal.
Places of importance - Kainchi is a modern pilgrimage
flocked by both devotees and general tourists. Kainchi is believed to be
established by Neem Karoli Baba.
Kilbury, another important destination with vivid flora and fauna,
serves as the perfect picnic spot for the City dwellers.
Kasauini and Ranikhet are the other two places flocked by the visitors
while the Corbett National Park at a distance of 120 km remains the
centre of attraction for the wildlife lovers.
Bazaars - Though the name of the city seems
to be a bit orthodox, the malls are nowhere close to that reputation.
The malls that have been sprouted up by the enthusiastic entrepreneurs
have changed the status of Nainital from a hill station to a shopping
station with all modern facilities.
The major shopping zones include Sardar Sons, Arun Gift Store, Shivam
Gift Store, Nagpal Gift Centre, Darshan Brothers, The Mini Mall Road
Shop, Bara Bazar and Bhotia Market. One can buy anything starting from
the branded wears to foods to amenities.
Things to Do
Taste the Naini Foods - The Foods of Nainital are
simply as enticing as the City itself. One can find practically anything
and evrything mouth watering when it comes to visiting the Restaurants.
Starting from the ice creams, juices and beverages the range of
restaurants serve gourmet foods, Chinese, continental and Pure Desi
foods. Try out Machan, Embassy or the Capri for the sake of some waters
in the mouth.
The
Splendid Festivals - Well, Nainital gets a new life during its
vibrant and enchanting festival days. Phooldeyi or Phooldeli, Bikhauti,
Hariyala, Gheeya Sankranti or Olgia, Khatarua, Uttarani or Kale Kaua,
Basant Panchami, Samvastar Pareva and Batsavitri are the names, and even
if it's hard to remember, drop yourself in for a month between January
to August and it's almost sure to get a taste of any one or two.
Try the Himalaya Mini Golf - Try your golfing skills
in the 9 holes of putting fun and enjoy the event with whole of your
family. And if one feels hungry, there is enough arrangement for snacks
and chips.
Connectivity
By Air - The Palam International Airport (new Delhi)
is the nearest operational airport, while Indira Gandhi International
Airport is the nearest international one.
By Train - Kathgodam station, at a distance of 34
km, is the nearest railhead, well connected to the Major cities such as
Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai etc.
By Roads - The Uttar Pradesh government runs
government-buses (U.P.S.R.T) regularly to Nainital . Besides, buses are
also available under Haryana Roadways, DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation)
and Rajasthan Roadways. The City is connected well to other major cities
in India.
Accommodation
Alka The Lake Side Hotel, Animika Ocean Hotel, The Palace Belvedere,
Hotel Balrampur House, Channi Raja Hotel, Hotel Welcome Park etc are
good hotels to stay a put.
