Located in the north Indian state of Uttaranchal around 235 km from Delhi. Dehradun extends from the latitude 30° 19' in the North to longitude 78° 04' in the East. The city of Dehradun is well linked to other cities of north India by rail, road, and air. ![]() General Overview Dehradun is the Provisional capital of the newly formed state Uttaranchal. The City lies in the district with the same name and is house to many important organisations such as IMA (Indian Military Academy), ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation), IIP (Indian Institute of Petroleum) etc. According to History, Dun was a part of Kedar Khand. Later on the region was reigned over by Ashoka in 3rd century BC. Before coming under the reign of the British in 1815, the Gorkhas ruled over the region. The Dehradun city is one of the most flocked after in the Kumaon region, due to its soothing climate and excellent infrastructure facilities. The hilly region is engulfed in picturesque surroundings and is immensely attractive in terms of beauty of the locations. Moreover, the City is close to other picturesque locations like mussoorie that makes it special in terms of tourism purposes.
